A very warm welcome to the Year 3 class at Dane Royd! Here you will find an engaging and extremely supportive teaching team in the form of Mr Pickles, Mrs Frieze and Ms Beverly. We believe that Year 3 is at a crucial point in the life of a learner and encourage all of our pupils to become critical thinkers and demonstrate further independence. Alongside this, we incorporate both cross-curricular and collaborative learning opportunities to ensure our pupils find enjoyment in their learning, which is essential for skills and knowledge to be retained and applied in the wider world.

We actively take part in global events, such as ‘Black History Month’ and ‘Anti-Bullying Week’, as in doing so it feeds directly into the school’s ethos of creating global citizens. Through our ability to work collaboratively, we demonstrate and understand the value of respect, meaning all pupils find the classroom a safe space to carry out their best learning.

In our class, the children have many opportunities to learn in a variety of places outside the classroom, including visits to Tropical World and Pizza Express!

The school has many fantastic outdoor areas, which provide rich opportunities such as pond-dipping or interacting with and learning how to care for both chickens and Guinea pigs. Furthermore, our food technology lessons benefit from us using homegrown produce in our recipes. From this, children will learn the essentials of potting and planting; paying close attention to the seasonal changes and wildlife.
