Year 1

with Miss Husdon & Mrs Fleming

Year 1 is an important year as it represents the transition from Upper Foundation Stage into Year 1.   Over the year, Year 1 children are encouraged to become independent learners and understand the importance of having a ‘can do’ attitude.

We teach and learn through termly topics.  Through these topics we develop reading and writing skills, as well as using our investigative, imaginative and creative skills to make our learning purposeful and engaging.

We are lucky enough in Year 1 to have a fantastic learning environment, supplemented by our Key Stage shared area and outdoor area.

Please look on the curriculum pages to find out more about the topics we cover in Year 1.

In Year 1:

  • We are all friends.

  • We ‘have a go’.

  • We listen carefully, to our teacher and to each other.

  • We have lots of fun as we learn.
