Welcome to Year 4’s Class Page!
If your child is lucky enough to be in Year 4 this year, then they will be taught by myself (Miss Pritchard), and Miss Squires, who is our class teaching assistant. As a team, we aim to provide a positive and engaging environment for children to learn new things and have fun every day. We pride ourselves in Year 4 on the support given through out every lesson, to encourage children to be the best they can be and strive for success. The children are also encouraged to be independent learners, allowing them to solve problems and develop resilience.
Alongside our classroom learning, we in Year 4 love the competitive challenges and physical activities incorporated into our Tuesday afternoon’s PE. You will find that we thrive on exciting team games, getting every child’s heart racing.
In Year 4, children are given the chance to learn beyond the classroom by attending a range of educational visits including the Ancient Egyptian Exhibition at Wakefield Museum and Jorvik Viking Centre. These fascinating history trips are enjoyed by both the children and staff who attended. Standing meters away from an Ancient Egyptian Mummy was my personal favourite moment.
Our geography topics are designed to ensure children think about their role and impact on the world today. Through our ‘Extreme Earth’ topic, the children learn about all the biomes around the world and how these link to different climates and extreme weather conditions. As a school, we feel it is very important for children to be aware of current climate change issues and the impact of global warming.
Our classroom has a caring and nurturing environment, which enables children to feel safe and comfortable. With the help of Miss Squires, the displays in year 4 provide them with the platform to succeed.
Please check our twitter page (@DaneRoydY4) for regular updates of the interesting and exciting things we get up to!
We hope that all Year 4 children will always remember the fond memories made this year, I know I will.
