Welcome to Year 5/6’s Class Page!
In Year 5/6, your child will be taught by myself (Mr Watson), and I am joined by Mrs Campbell who is our class teaching assistant. We aim to provide a fun and stimulating environment in which children love to come to school and learn something new every day. In Year 5/6, the children continue to improve as independent learners and are encouraged to strive to achieve their dreams. Alongside that, as I am the Head of PE within school, you will often find us outside or in the sports hall including physical activity in the children’s learning – this is in the format of challenging games and entertaining trails, which are guaranteed to get your child’s heart racing and brain ticking.
In Year 5/6, children are given the chance to learn beyond the classroom by taking part in a range of educational visits including my personal favourite – a residential to North Wales at Robinwood. Our topics are designed to think about their role and impact on the world today through our ‘It’s Not Too Late’ topic. They will also learn about a key part in local and British history with a jump back in time in our ‘Down t’pit’ topic, and an in-depth study of World War Two.
Our classroom has a caring and nurturing environment, which enables children to feel safe and comfortable in the classroom to give them the platform to succeed. We hope that all Year 5/6 children will enjoy the year, and always remember it fondly in years to come.
