We are looking to appoint a Caretaker to join our school as soon as possible on a permanent contract for 25 hours per week, 52 weeks per year with paid holiday entitlement, working a split shift arrangement.

The Caretaker will provide maintenance, cleaning and security services within the school.  We are therefore looking for a hard-working, conscientious and self-motivated individual – someone willing to go that extra mile to ensure that our school is secure and that our health and safety standards are well maintained to ensure a welcoming and safe environment for the whole school community.

Some specific duties will include;

  • Unlock & lock the school and carry out security checks on the building including identifying any security risks;

  • Undertake weekly lettings;

  • Carry out and record basic checks and help maintain Health and Safety records;

  • Supporting the maintenance of property and grounds which will include some gardening duties and liaising with contractors;

  • Monitor site stock and order supplies;

  • Undertake/assist with the receipt, distribution, collection and despatch of goods;

  • Experience of DIY and ability to carry out minor repairs ie plumbing, changing light bulbs, unblocking drains, repairing furniture, general maintenance and decorating competently;

  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, confidentiality, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person;

  • Willingness to attend training courses including Health and Safety;

  • Undertake cleaning whilst supervising the team of cleaners

Previous experience would be beneficial but training will be provided.  The successful candidate will be required to act as a key holder.
